Students must use a topic, which was approved by the instructor or their research proposal.
Do not include quotes in your work. The student needs to display good critical thinking skills and not a string of quotes written by published authors. Your proposal is what is needed for a successful research project to be conducted in the future.

Do not wait to the last minute to research, write, format, and edit. Proper time management is required to turn in a quality research proposal that highlights your understanding of how to conduct scholarly research.

Wilson, W. (2016). Black youths, joblessness, and the other side of Black Lives Matter.

In this article it talks aboutWhen income segregation is coupled with racial segregation, low-income blacks cluster in neighborhoods that feature disadvantages along several dimensions including joblessness. Residents of these neighborhoods are often innocent victims of crime, including violent crime, which frequently goes unnoticed or unreported in the media Wilson, W.(2016) I choose this because it talks about some of the reasons why the movement started and what they are fighting to change now. This also points out simple facts of what the struggle actually is what people go through in these low-income areas and how they feel about things when it comes to police and police brutality. This is a pivotal moment in African-American history due to the fact this is the single most important thing to almost all African-Americans. It is a platform that is now on the World-wide level that notices the social injustices that not only black people go through but all races of colors.

During these times a lot of youths are dealing with a lot more racism than I had to deal with surprisingly and with the BLM this is making those that felt they didn’t have a voice speak up. In todays time racism has been brought to the forefront more than ever were people have been more open about how they feel about other people and how they feel uncomfortable about another race. It is a challenging conversation to have with white people about why racism exist because no one knows exactly why it continues. No one was born a racist but it is the culture the family surrounds themselves with that makes them out to be such. I believe that at any moment and time any child of any race should never be discriminated against no matter what upbringing they have they shouldnt be looked at different regardless what clothes they are wearing or how the style of their clothes are. For instance if you take a stroll down rodeo drive in southern CA you will immediately be judged as someone from the hood rather than someone that is dressing to the culture of the music they listen to. this to serves the same way if a white kid is walking through compton ca with his clothes baggy trying to fit in they would think he would be a culture vulture.

Social movements against police brutality. There is always this narrative that when someone is killed by a police officer they used excessive force this article talks just about that. Where police are picking on minorities and mentally ill people using excessive force against those of color. No matter where you are or what type of video you will always hear when a person of color is being arrested they are only messing with him because he is Black that narrative has to change and also the public servants have to change their mindset that everyone is a criminal when coming up on a scene. I understand what the job entails and how difficult it can to be to assess a problem when coming up on a call but just arresting people to get answers doesnt make things easier for everyone else and causes more of a problem than a solution to any problem from the outside looking in. Things that also need to change is when is detainment gonna be just a detainment and not be a police officer putting their knee on someones neck and they assume that because the person can vocally say I cant breathe means they can breathe. This is a form of abuse of powers and isnt protecting the public more or less just using the badge to do what they want and deemed necessary
