Capstone Project Overview

Scope and Purpose Comment by Dr. Barbara Gast: Introductory headings are generally centered (Level I heading).

Indent paragraphs 5-7 spaces (APA rule).
The primary purpose of the project is to help the organization ameliorate its performance or productivity by enhancing the worker skills and by building capacity for the human resource development. When it comes to child care particularly the street child, one needs to be frugal. It requires the employees and volunteers to have a firm control over their temperament, moreover, it requires certain leadership skills that are indispensable for volunteering. The volunteer should be motivated all the time. Nonchalant workers /volunteers could hurt the children who are already passing through a hard time in their lives. The tools to identify the needs of the organization are direct observation, interviews, surveys, consultation with the director of the organization, plus report studies and work samples. Through needs analysis, we will get to know the weaknesses prevailing within the organization including the problems of children who need help, the issues faced by the workers/volunteers. Comment by Dr. Barbara Gast: How are you determining the needs of the organization? Can you provide notes, reports, interview with management? This would become part of the appendix that you can cite (see Appendix A) in your final report.

Outline of Action Plan

The purpose to foster essential leadership skills among the workers/volunteers within the organization. Hence, a meticulously fostered training program would be developed for volunteers in which they would get the comprehensive knowledge of leadership skills, why they are imperative in volunteering. To design an extensive training program we will conduct surveys and interviews with the employees and volunteers of the organization. Furthermore, we will impart with the director to comprehend the requirements. These requirements could be regarding the motivation of the employees or need for an incentive system to keep them motivated. To maintain their passion for making a change in society, they would be admonished by the pundits in this realm, for instance, the renowned philanthropists or directors of other successful NGOs that would share with them the significance of volunteering. Moreover, the employees and volunteers would get a detailed knowledge about organizational goals, its mission, and vision. The psychological issues encountered by homeless children living in streets, or children who get involved in the street crimes such as mugging, children who are persecuted by their guardians at home such children would also be emphasized in the training program.
The training program would also introduce the employees and volunteers to the path of spiritual leadership. They will get the empathy of what makes the leader great, what are those valuable skills that could take them to a stage of effective leaders. Moreover, they would be taught the significance of fundraising for the organization and these funds would be utilized in a transparent way for the welfare of the homeless children. The training program would be divided into different sessions. For each session, the pundits would be called to train the volunteers on that particular subject.

Positive and negative factors

The leadership of an organization could be proved as an impetus for our project. Leadership is the main driver of an organization. If leadership is ineffective then the organization may encounter failure in its projects. Likewise, the communication skills of the employees might help us to get the empathy of the prevalent issues within the organization. Better the communication skills more will be the information we could extricate.
Moreover, lack of awareness about the basic psychology could stir obstructions within our project. We expect the possession of basic knowledge of psychology by the volunteers so that they can attain better empathy for the psychological issues children face. Moreover, lack of control over a temperament or patience could also spur potential barriers in our project. To cooperate with underprivileged children one needs to be competent and calm enough to deal with them. Due to multiple psychological factors, their behavior is mostly unpredictable ( Gillingham & Zanibbi, 1987).

Leadership theories

In order to create a significant impact, we would incorporate the religious teachings regarding the importance of helping the needy people, how to help the homeless children. What does God teach about underprivileged children? Hence, our training system would highly conform to the religious teaching.
Moreover, the transformational leaders would be called to admonish the trainees. They would raise them to the higher level of morality and motivation. Transformational leadership is about setting profound goals, it is would fairness and integrity. Hence, all these aspects would be integrated into the training session. The training session would emphasize greatly in fostering the preceding leadership styles within the volunteers that would help them to make concrete change within the organization and inspire the lost, directionless children to set goals in their lives and strive to achieve them (Blackaby & Blackaby, 2007). Likewise, cross-cultural leadership would enable them to deal with the children of a different culture.

PROFESSORS NOTES- This is a good beginning, but examine carefully how you determined the organization (not you) considers this a priority. Be sure to document the interview or company records, possibly as appendix, to cite for the Needs Analysis as you move along in the project. This protects you from anyone questioning the actual needs of the company.
