Particulars:
The paper should be 6 pages (excluding title page and references).
The paper should be typed with double-spacing throughout, including the list of references. Do not put extra space between paragraphs. Denote new paragraphs with indentation.
The paper should be supported by a minimum of six in-text citations from four sources, two of which must be scholarly sources. Non-scholarly sources must be of high quality, such as some .gov and .edu web sites. Wikipedia may not be used as a non-scholarly source.
The in-text citations and list of references must be formatted using APA style.
The list of references should be in alphabetical order with double spacing, just like the body of the paper, and formatted with hanging indent.
Follow the formatting and tone of the Walmart paper in the Syllabus/Documents area.
Avoid writing in the first or second person, which are too informal. Instead, write in the formal, objective third person.
Attach both parts of the feedback received from the Smarthinking tutor (submitted to the Essay Center) as part of your submission.
The extended nature of this project teaches students proper academic research and writing skills. Therefore, papers will be judged on grammar, punctuation, proper citations, clarity, and mechanics as well as on the merits of the submitted research. American Psychological Association (APA) Style:
APA style must be used for all stages of the Research Paper. Resources regarding how to use APA style are located within the course and in the required Pocket Style Manual. In addition, there are two sample APA-style papers in the Syllabus/Documents area in Blackboard.
APA Style Salient Points:
1. All ideas that are not your original thoughts must have in-text citations giving credit to the author and, with the exception of personal communication, a reference list entry.
2. Keep verbatim quotes to a minimum. Instead, paraphrase whenever possible. Paraphrasing demonstrates understanding and assessment of information and strengthens an argument.
3. Quoting matters:
a. Do not begin or end a paragraph with a direct quotation. Remember, you are the writer and you are making a point. Quotes merely support the point(s) that you are making.
b. Avoid dropped quotes. Introduce all quotes.
c. Block indent quotes that are 40 words or more (should be used minimally).
4. Evidence should come from quality sources such as peer-reviewed journals, books, or scholarly websites (Wikipedia is not permitted) or government or education web sites.
5. Follow writing guidelines using APA (6th Edition) format.

Introduction
The world today is a rather competitive arena to be more so, in the aspect of science and technology and subsequently career progression. Skills are hence crucial if one intends to remain relevant within their chosen career fields. Needs are constantly changing hence new arising issues require modern solutions. The right skill and knowledge, one can greatly progress and climb to greater heights. Schools have hence modelled graduate programs for adult learners who may be willing to further progress and earn extra knowledge to better serve their industry and improve their lives. Despite their ages, adults have hence taken the initiative to educationally progress hence they can hence leverage their new gained skill and knowledge for higher and better positions or make career shift to other industries (Chu,Hsieh, and Chang,(n.d.)).
Super (1957), Havighurst (1972) and Schein (1978) were all theorists that attempted to as accurately as they could define the stages of individual career development in a person. In each stage, the theorists then articulated that to move to the next stage, one would then be required to undertake certain tasks and acquire the relevant and crucially needed skills as well as knowledge to progress. Opportunities may often seem scarce hence minimal advancement but one with the right knowledge and skill, one can leverage that and create an opportunity for growth and career advancement. With the fast-changing environment, opportunities are practically infinite and are perceived to be a platform for self-improvement and growth.
Literature review
By ensuring that people are have the knowledge and skill, this then could guarantee the career and overall success in ones career. By having access to post-graduate education, ones career path is then strengthened as they scale to greater heights in their careers. Across all industries there is a need for more information being imparted on adult learners in efforts to guarantee career progression as opportunities are evidently available. Adult education can hence take place in virtually any environment with a majority of the people undergoing through workplace learning which a more practical and field-oriented approach with the intention to leverage opportunities available within the particular field or industry for career development (OECD, (n.d.)).
Many adults have as well opted to make shifts in their careers in the past. In recent times, this aspect has hence received a huge deal of attention. As earlier stipulated, the world is fast changing environment hence the platform to create opportunities for advancement and transitions as opportunities create themselves. One is not limited to career transitions in their career lives hence based on their will and presented opportunities, one can infinitely make changes as they deem fit. As one makes the various transitions, one has to be equipped with the relevant knowledge and skill for their adaptability to the new environment. Often people assess their careers before they can make their commitment to undergo additional training and gaining of additional knowledge to help them in their transition (Chu,Hsieh, and Chang,(n.d.)).
Many are times that one may feel motivated to acquire an extra skill which is majorly exerted by an aspect of commitment and effort. The motivation to gain the additional skill often arises from various aspects within the current job field. For most people it often is financial motivation while other is majorly from a point of interest. In certain instances, motivation often arises from the observation of a gap within the relevant industry. By leverage their newly acquired skill, one can hence occupy the aimed gap often creating an aspect of enjoyment and satisfaction. Many have hence undertaken the educational pursuit with a survey indicating career progression within various industries as positions are hence occupied by already working individuals who see the necessity to increase their knowledge and skills to better impact their various fields (RTI International, 2020).
Adult learners make re-entries back to their former schools to further their studies in their own volition. This hence makes it crucial important that ones learning satisfaction to be an essential requirement to achieve an aspect of satisfaction. To achieve learning satisfaction, a students goals and needs ought to be met by the learning activities to guarantee personal and career development. In a race for a better life, many adults will often opt to go back to school and achieve additional skills and knowledge that can hence be leveraged for a better position and subsequently increased pay and better life. Opportunities have in recent times become easily available not only to the younger adult generations but also those who may be slightly more advanced in age. With the world growing to increase its limit boundaries, one can hardly be locked out of opportunities that pave way for personal growth and career development (Olsen,& Tikkanen,2018).
Conclusion
In the world today, there are infinite opportunities that can be leveraged with the right skill and knowledge. From survey, an average of about two in every five adults find it crucially important to undergo extra education and training every year. With newly gained knowledge, one cannot only better execute their duties, but further achieve a great deal of milestones both from a personal aspect as well as career-wise. Getting ready with the right skill in hand, one can further use various opportunities and resources present ed before him or her for their benefit. With the changing times, one can establish newer and better ways to better adapt to the future. The world is fast going smart hence the need for more knowledge and skills to leverage upcoming technology (OECD, (n.d.)).
