According to

Domestic violence is a rapidly growing crime that is very prominent in the state of Nevada. Therefore, with this crime a common rehabilitative service that is highly recommended is for the aggressor to take seek anger management interventions. Due to domestic violence being highly correlated with impulsivity and violence, this could also be an indicating factor that an individual is struggling to control his or her anger. Thus causing them to become combative towards others around them. Essentially, the idea of anger management is to provide more sense of empathy and compassion as well as learning to be in control of how individuals react in situations that test their emotions. Furthermore, public awareness of a crime as well as awareness of the different rehabilitative services can be highly beneficial in allowing individuals to get the help that they need. Often times what happens is that people don’t know what services are available to them, which then causes them not to get the help necessary.

According to American Addiction Center, 23 million Americans shoplift, however only 3 million are considered shoplifting addicts (American Addiction Center, 2021). Moreover, shoplifting has resulted in $25 million lost of per day and increase in prices (American Addiction Center, 2021). Someone with shoplifting addiction experience an overwhelming desire to shoplift item, a constant tension and pressure to shoplift with repetitive thoughts about shoplifting, and a very brief time of relief after shoplifting (Hilbink, 2023). According to the American Addiction Center (2021), therapy and support groups with the right people can help someone with a shop lifting addiction live a normal live. Rehabilitation services can be improved by applying psychological theories because they offer different perspectives that can lead to a successful treatment. Bringing awareness to shoplifting and potential rehabilitation services can improved rehabilitation services because they can receive more funding if more people are expose to them and will be willing to support the rehabilitation services.

In the case of Roper v. Simmons, Simmons, at the time the crime was committed was the age of seventeen, he spoke with two other friends, who were also minors at the time to commit burglary and murder (Lippman 2019).Simmons and one other friend proceeded in breaking into the house of Mrs. Cook, whom Simmons recognized from a previous car accident. The two then tied her hands and feet, covered her head, and threw her over the bridge, resulting in her drowning. As Simmons admitted to later identifying and choosing Mrs. Cook due to a previous altercation, that alone should have raised flags regarding how Simmons is processing trauma and confrontation. The issue with the sentencing and the law is that there are ongoing factors and exceptions that make it difficult to draw an actual line, as it is not always black and white. In the case of Simmons, I would agree with the defense counsel that minors, individuals of a certain age cannot drink, serve on juries, or even see certain movies, because the legislatures have wisely decided that individuals of a certain age arent responsible enough, (Lippman 2019). Simmonss should still be responsible for serving his punishment and by still trying him as a minor, does not take away from the crime he did nor should it lessen his punishment, simply it should not impose violations to his Eighth Amendment due to him still being a minor.
