NOTE: You may not implement your project until Week 5, after your proposal has been approved by your instructor.
Course Outcomes
Through this assignment, the student will demonstrate the ability to do the following.
CO 2: Create a caring environment for achieving quality health outcomes (care-focused).
CO 3: Engage in lifelong personal and professional growth through reflective practice and appreciation of cultural diversity (cultural humility).
CO 4: Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in healthcare (professional identity).
CO 5: Advocate for positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based, collaborative advanced nursing practice (extraordinary nursing).
Due Date: Sunday 11:59 p.m. MT at the end of Week 2
Total Points Possible: 150
Requirements:
You begin your Education Practicum Project proposal in this assignment by identifying and describing an educational problem or issue.
1. The following information should be included in this part of your paper.
a. Description of the problem or issue
i. Evidence related to the problem or issue, including statistics if appropriate
ii. Real or potential impact of the issue
b. Your PICOT question
c. Choose a theoretical framework to support your project you can choose from a nursing theory, learning theory, or non-nursing theory.
i. You can choose from a nursing theory, learning theory, or non-nursing theory.
ii. Briefly describe how this theory supports your project.
d. A description of your educational intervention. What evidence-based teaching strategy will you use to address your problem or issue?
e. Summary, including the purpose of the education practicum project paper and what it will include.
2. The paper should be one to two pages long, plus reference page. This is an estimate to guide you and not a strict requirement. The goal is for you to end up with a 15-page paper, suitable for publication. When you have finished your Education Practicum Project in NR622. Please use the NR621 Education Practicum Project paper template attached to this assignment to develop your proposal. You will use this document throughout your Education Practicum project.
Preparing the paper
By the beginning of NR621, you should have already identified an educational issue and accumulated several references that will help you develop the introduction to your Education Practicum Project paper. Work with your mentor and instructor to finalize your PICOT question. Impeccable APA formatting is expected since submission for publication is the goal.

Title, no bold
Do not use the heading Introduction. Describe the educational issue you are addressing thoroughly. What is the evidence for this problem or issue? What statistics are available? Who has identified this issue? What is the significance or impact of this issue on learners or organizations? What educational or other intervention have you selected for the problem or issue you identify and what is your PICOT question? Finally, describe the purpose of your paper as well as what your paper will include.
This section should be about one to two pages long and should be written in third person.
Incorporate feedback from your instructor on the introduction before writing the next section of this paper.
Synthesis of the Literature
Based on the Week 2 Lesson, develop your research summary table, using at least 10 relevant and recent articles. The articles in the research summary table should be research on your instructional method or other intervention. The focus of this section is on the intervention, not the problem or issue. The final research summary table should be placed after the reference list as Appendix A.
Identify major themes in your articles by examining each column on your research summary table (see Lesson 2). As you identify a theme, add it to this synthesis of the literature section as a subheading (see below). Then discuss anything your articles say about that theme under the appropriate subheading. As a rule of thumb, you are likely to have two to five themes. Each theme will likely be discussed by more than one of your authors.
Subheading One
What do the articles on your research summary table say about this theme?
Subheading Two
What do the articles on your research summary table say about this theme?
Subheading Three
What do the articles on your research summary table say about this theme?
Summary of the Literature
Summarize the literature. What are the major themes in the synthesis of the literature? How are they related to your PICOT question? What are the best practices related to your intervention?
Note that this is not a study-by-study analysis of your articles but rather a thematic summary of what the literature says about your proposed intervention. This section should be two to four pages long. This section of the paper should be in third person. Incorporate feedback from your instructor on the synthesis of literature before writing the next section.
Intervention and Evaluation Plan
(Use the sub-headings below or similar subheadings, depending on your particular project)
Objectives
What were the long-term and short-term objectives of your project?
Description of the Practicum Site and Stakeholders
Describe your practicum site and the recipients of your intervention. Did you work with students? The nursing staff? The administration?
Change Model
What organizational change model guided the implementation of your project? What are the steps of that model and what did you do at each step? If you develop a table to describe the relationship between the steps in the change model and the steps in your intervention, place it in the Appendix section of your paper.
Implementation Plan
Exactly, step-by-step, what will you do to implement your project? Provide as much detail as possible. As you carry out your project, what change model will you use to guide the implementation of your project? What are the steps of that model, and what will you do at each step? Please construct a table with the steps of the model on the left and what you will be doing at each step in your implementation. This table will be Appendix B of your paper.
As part of your project, you will either be delivering a lesson or making a presentation. Part of your implementation plan will be to complete the Teaching Plan Template. Complete this template with as much detail as possible. Remember, your teaching plan should show that you plan to use active learning strategies in addition to or instead of a traditional PowerPoint.
Evaluation
Finally, what outcome variables are you using? Remember, your outcome variables should reflect the outcome(s) you chose for your PICOT question. Describe how you plan to evaluate the usefulness of your intervention. Will you use an examination? A simulation checklist? A grading rubric? A student satisfaction survey? You need to be very specific in this section. Any type of evaluation you use should be placed in an appendix at the end of the paper.
In addition to citing your change model, you should cite literature supporting your intervention plan in this section. You may use first person in this part of the paper but less awkward would be to refer to yourself as the project manager. This student or this author are extremely clumsy and awkward.
This section should be three-four pages long.
Evaluation Results
Describe your results in quantitative and qualitative terms. What were the results of your evaluation? If you used a quiz, how did your learners perform on your quiz? What suggestions did you receive on improving your intervention? How did your outcomes improve, or did they? If your outcomes did not improve, what is your explanation? What suggestions do you have for the practicum site going forward? Did you answer your PICOT question? What are the limitations of your project? If you didnt get the results you expected, speculate on why.
When describing your intervention and evaluation plan, you used the first person because you were describing what you did. However, publications in nursing generally do not publish first-person articles so, instead of I, you could use the term the project director thats you! This part of your final paper should be three-four pages long.
Conclusions
First, summarize your findings in a transition sentence or two. Then address these questions, each in a paragraph. What are the implications of your project results for theory development? Did your intervention and results confirm the theory you used in your intervention? If not, why not? If your results indicate that other variables outside the theory might also affect your results, speculate on possible reasons.
What are the implications of your project for research? What research questions arise from your project? How could you further study your intervention? What are the unanswered questions?
Next, what are the implications of your project for teaching practice? For clinical practice? How would you recommend other teachers implement your intervention?
Finally, write a summary: What was your goal was at the beginning of your project? What did you do? What were the results? What advice would you give to future educators?
This section will be one to two pages long
References
Refer to the Current Edition APA Manual for how to list your references.
Add to your reference list as you discuss information about your educational problem or issue (Week 2), complete your review of literature (Week 3), and develop your intervention and evaluation plan (Week 4).
Insert Appendices here, lettered (A, B, C, etc.)
Make sure you have referred your readers to your Appendix at the appropriate place within your paper.
