PEER 1:
To be honest coming into this class, I really had no knowledge at all of marketing. Also have to honestly say it isnt something Ive ever had nor still have no real interest in. Just isnt a side of business that appeals to me. I understand the importance of it to a business. In fact, its really a crucial side of any business that has anything to sell to consumers. Going through the Intellipath assignments though and doing research throughout the class for the discussion board assignments I have learned a lot. Especially in just how important good marketing is for a product throughout its lifecycle.
With my product I would strive to stay true to my mission statement. The game would offer a free-to-play version so that anyone could play without having to spend any money. It would also offer a subscription service to players who want more out of the game. The subscription service would be competitively priced to make it a deal compared to other games on the market. Along with the monthly subscription service, there would also be an in-game store that requires real world cash to buy things from. This store would sell mostly cosmetic items and other account boosts that may be useful for players. This would allow pretty much everyone to play, regardless of their financial means.
When it comes to customer service, I would strive to ensure the best possible experience for players. As a gamer myself, I have experienced both ends of the spectrum. Some real good experiences and some really bad experiences. I would try to ensure that players have multiple ways to get in touch with customer service agents and try to make sure their issues are resolved quickly and with as little hassle as possible. I would want to listen to players as well, to give them a place to offer suggestions. I would want players to feel like they matter to the game.
Technology would play a pretty key role in customer service management. It is what would allow players to contact customer service. Whether it be directly or indirectly, it would play a key role. There would be in-game tickets that could be filed with customer service as well as the ability to email customer service with any issues. I would also try to offer a live chat with customer service in order to get things settled quickly. A phone may also be added as another option in order to reach customer service. For each of these, technology is the key element that makes each option possible.
