The company Candy Clouds has been selling its products through a traditional physical store in California. The company aims to target a broader market by focusing on e-commerce opportunities. The company ordered an e-commerce website displayed in several languages, which includes a user-friendly interface, a database for the products available, and future products to develop, secure payment methods, and a content management system (CMS) to manage the website and products.

Project Purpose/Justification

Business Need/Case
The project has been created to launch the companys candy products on the web market through an e-commerce website.
The business goals are multiple:
Help the company reach the worldwide candy market by targeting five mains worlds areas: North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and the middle east.
Display the mission and vision of the company through the website, which is to offer organic candies that respect eco-friendly operations, including productions and packaging.
Offer an ergonomics and secure web showcase.
Business Objectives
The objectives of the project are in support of the vision and goals of the company and its strategic plan, which include the following:
Create a fast and ergonomics website within 30 days.
Develop a secure website, including database and payment methods.
Develop different payment methods and languages for the website.

Project Description

The new company Candy Clouds wants to develop and launch an e-commerce website that offers different ranges of candies produced by the company. The project consists of developing an e-commerce website that encompasses a variety of functionalities that allow visitors to order and buy sweets, subscribe to the weekly newsletter, and manage a personal profile. The project will be developed with the latest technology web available.
Project Objectives and Success Criteria
The goals which support the milestones and deliverables for this project have been identified to accomplish success on the e-commerce website project. The following objectives must be reached within the set time and budget.
An ergonomic and responsive interface.
A flexible and secure database.
Secure payment methods.
Requirements
Project Requirements are the following:
The website must be responsive.
Secured payment methods must be implemented and tested prior to production deployment
An optimal database must be developed to adapt to the size of product ranges and tested prior to production deployment.
The content management system of the website and database must be simple and tested without disrupting the website development.
Additional requirements may be added as necessary, with the client’s approval, as the project moves forward.
Constraints
The following constraints are involved in the website project development:
The website must be developed within the set time and budget.
The database must be compatible with Oracle database.
The website must respect web standards.

Assumptions
The following are a list of assumptions. Upon agreement and signature of this document, all parties acknowledge that these assumptions are true and correct:
This project has the full support of the project sponsor, stakeholders, and all departments.
The project manager will provide additional resources if necessary.
The progression of the project will be informed and communicated to all stakeholders by the project manager.
Preliminary Scope Statement
The project will include the design, security, testing, and delivery of the created website. The project team developers’ members will manage the software resources. The database analysists and developers will manage the database software resources. All project activities will follow the set schedule. The required testing will be done by the project team members. All project funding will be managed by the project manager. Any additional financing necessitates the approval of the client. This project will be completed within 30 days after the production deployment is tested; the CMS documentation is completed and distributed to the client.

Risks

The project manager will engage in risk analysis to generate a risk mitigation plan. The following risks for the website project have been identified:
Potential security test failures.
Potential database test failures.
Potential unclear documentation.
Potential budget and schedule errors.

Project Deliverables

The following deliverables must be met upon the successful completion of the website project. The client must approve any changes to these deliverables.
Fully developed and launched the website.
CMS documentation for managing the website.

Project Approval Requirements

The success of the website project will be accomplished when the functionalities and database are tested in the production and the technical aspects of the CMS documented and delivered to the client within the set budget and schedule indicated in the charter. Also, this measure of success must include the opportunities created by the project to the company and future improvements and threats that might impact the website functioning. Project success will be determined by the client represented by Mr. J. Smith, who will also provide authorizations of the project completion.

Project Manager

Yasmine Ben is the project manager for the duration of the development and launch of the e-commerce website. Ms. Ben’s responsibility is to manage all project activities, scheduling, and communication regarding the candy e-commerce project. Her team consists of two web specialists, one database analysist, and one web and database security expert. Ms. Ben will coordinate all resource requirements of the project in collaboration with the accounting manager. Ms. Ben is authorized to approve all budget expenditures up to and including the allocated budget amounts decided with the client. Any additional financing must be requested through the client executive manager Mr. Smith. Ms. Ben will provide weekly updates to the executive manager Mr. Smith.
