deliverable 03 R&W
Competency
Evaluate research and data that can help answer the research question and support a hypothesis.
Scenario
You are a first-year graduate student. You are taking a graduate course on research and writing. In this assignment, your professor has asked you to evaluate the research and data in two studies related to a research question you are interested in.
Instructions
In a paper for your professor, do the following:
Find two scholarly research articles in the Rasmussen library related to a research question you are interested in. Indicate the research question. Be sure to provide APA citations and provide the library permalinks for the two articles.
Evaluate how data was used in these studies:
Is the data credible and reliable? Support your answer.
Is the data well documented in the paper? Support your answer.
Evaluate the data analysis and interpretation. Does the data support the hypothesis and help answer the research question? Support your answer.
Discuss the ethical issues that may arise as you conduct your research study. How will you address those issues?

Teachers notes
Please pay attention to detail
Thanks, for submitting your assignment. Please see the rubric evaluation below for feedback on how to improve your grade.
Credibility Review /2 [C] – Basic explanation of how the data is credible and reliable.
Documentation Review /2 [C] – Basic explanation of how the data is documented in the paper.
Data Analysis Review /2 [C] – Basic explanation of evaluation of the data analysis and interpretation.
Ethics Review /2 [C] – Brief discussion of ethical issues that may arise as research is conducted and how these issues will be addressed.
APA Formatting /3 [B] – Minimal errors or omissions in APA formatting. Always be sure to follow the instructions in the APA Guide exactly. Comparing your work with the sample paper should help you identify errors.
Communication /3 [B] – Spelling and grammar errors are rare and do not distract the reader from the messages. Using Grammarly can help you find and fix common errors, but careful proofreading might be sufficient.
Additional Comments:
This touches on all the required elements, but needs much more detailed information to really be of use. When evaluating anything, you must first establish criteria and weigh how well the subject meets that criteria, but for an assignment like this one, you must also explain both of those things.
Also remember that the college has adopted the updated APA 7thedition, so be sure to review the APA Guide to note the changes.
Remember that your overall grade is the lowest grade on any of the individual criteria. You must earn at least a 2 [C] on every criterion to pass the assignment.

Evaluate Research and Data
Berghs, M., De Casterl, B., & Gastmans, C. (2015). The Complexity of Nurses’ Attitudes toward Euthanasia: A Review of the Literature. Journal of Medical Ethics, 31(8), 441-446.
Lillehammer, H. (2012). Voluntary Euthanasia and the Logical Slippery Slope Argument. The Cambridge Law Journal, 61(3), 545-550.
Evaluation of Data
Credibility
In the first article by Berghs, De Casterle & Gastmans, the information is credible because it is an article published by the Journal of Medical Ethics. The article also focuses on the actual information from the nurses experiences and attitude that will help improve their interactions. The nurses have main conflicting thoughts towards euthanasia because it influences their work and the attitude towards taking peoples lives.
In the second article by Lillehammer, the information is also credible especially from the laws point of view especially written by the Cambridge Law Journal. The article also provides various scenarios from different perspectives and logical standards that will help improve the credibility of that information.
Data documentation
Lillehammer is clear and has a proper distribution of information through the paper with the distribution of slippery slopes that include empirical and logical. The author sticks through the two whereby there is a concept of people taking advantage of the legalization of euthanasia whereby people can kill themselves or others can kill others with the concept of euthanasia. Berghs, De Casterle & Gastmans also provides proper delivery of the nurses attitudes towards euthanasia that provides the positive concepts of euthanasia that include respect for autonomy and quality of life while negative concepts include sanctity of life, maleficence and the concept of slippery slope.
Evaluate the data analysis and interpretation
The data analysis and interpretation are relevant to the research question especially because they do focus on the concept of euthanasia and both the negative and positive sides of the cases. The research articles provide the proper insight on how nurses find the positive concepts of the articles that will help improve their interactions. Both the articles are providing the proper insight into the question because it is easier for them to understand and provide the information regarding the slippery slope of the issue. The ethicality and the issue of legalization of euthanasia a big deal that will help improve the understanding of the issue. The issue is a major debate in the current decade thus it is important to provide information on both sides of the issue and help increase the knowledge on the issue.
Ethical issues that may arise from the research
It is difficult to pick a side on the research issue because the legalization of euthanasia implies that people can die peaceful deaths. On the other hand, it might be inappropriate to support the issue because some family members might take advantage of the issue and kill others with ease. The slippery slope of the legality issue is also a major issue because there are numerous reiterations on whether it will be okay to offer such laws or deny them. It will be challenging to react to the issue since it requires taking a single side. However, I will take a single side and support it with the existing law and the proper ethical standards that involves maintaining the peoples lives and the fact that it will be essential for their interaction. The ethicality of the issue exists with the law and how it appeals to the majority of the people while giving them the right to appeal or choose depending on their personal interests.
