Dear FBI HR,
I would like to express my enthusiasm in applying for the FBI Honors Internship Program for Spring 2021. I learned about this opportunity through my mentor and your employee, John Walter. If I am chosen for this position, it would allow me to enhance the skills I have learned in my classes while also obtaining new ones.

I am a third-year student at Montclair State University majoring in Justice Studies with double concentrations: Paralegal Studies and Justice Systems. My goal after graduation from Montclair State University is to go to law school. As a prospective undergraduate student scheduled to graduate in May 2022, with considerable writing and organizational skills, and a strong interest in law, government and policy, I believe I am a strong candidate for the FBI Honors Internship Program.

The job description requires working side-by-side with FBI employees on case support, research projects, program management projects, and more. These duties require a candidate who has strong leadership and collaboration skills, excellent writing skills, organizing and planning skills, and someone who has communication and interpersonal skills, that will further company growth. Therefore, from the knowledge and experience gained in my classes and leadership positions, I feel confident that I can contribute substantially to the work of your organization while strengthening the skills I will need for a career in law.

As a Justice Studies major, I have spent the past three years of my academic career learning about our constitution and our justice system. I have taken courses in: Justice, Courts and Legal System, Criminal Law and Procedure, Law and Litigation, Legal Research, and Writing. AdditionallyAdditionally, I have conducted several research projects such as an annotated bibliography on wrongful conviction, writing legal memorandums and case briefs, trial book, writing court observation papers and deposition digest. I also gained experience and knowledge about drafting complaints and answers, small-casesmall case filing methods, and investigation plans. I have excelled in my academic studies and I am intrigued by the idea of using my organizational and writing skills in this position.

Besides the skills and experiencesexperiences I have gained from my classes, I participate in several organizations and work as a student leader on campus. I was appointed as a Resident Assistant in August 2019 and as an Office Assistant for the Centerthe Center for Student Involvement in September 2018. In these two positions alone, I have gained collaboration skills; organizing and planning skills; and flexibility and problem solvingproblem-solving skills. I was able to plan and implement social, emotional, and educational gatherings for my residents. With my leadership, determination, understanding, and the ability to care for my job, and my staff, I was also able to assist the residents with personal, social, and academic concerns.

The mentioned experiences and skills are a demonstration of my hard work. Given an internship opportunity, I will exhibit the same commitment. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Sincerely,

Diana Dort
