Different people usually have different intention towards writing articles or books inoder to communicate information to the targeted audience. Some information is written inoder to warn people about the current events or the future. Others are used to influence positively towards something which is may help the society. But the main purpose of the majority of the articles and book is to open peoples mind and educate the for the better of the future. For an example Tolentino talked about the beauty of women, the reason behind the womens beauty and even the effects which it had brought to them. The main ideology of the article is how women have been putting a lot of efforts in making themselves look good via physical beauty and how it has trapped even the smart and ambitious women. Tolentino said that women usually like looking good despite the fact that maintaining it is not easy. I like trying to look good, but its hard to say how much you can genuinely, independently like what amount to a mandate Tolentino said. According to Tolentino, women have been investing a lot of time and also money in the beauty. That is because they highly value the physical beauty. But the article say that beauty has its own requirements which are also increasing as time goes on due to internal competition among the women and also the companies which supply the requirements. The article also says that women tend to use beauty to as a strategy of breaking the gender equality challenges which they have been facing. Due to that they have been trying their level best to achieve the highest level of beauty inoder to show men that they can depend on themselves both legally and also economically. Then through that, womens obedience has reduced as a result of using beauty to combat patriarchal logic which they think is has been affecting them negatively long. The beauty trap is believed to have capture even the smart and ambitious women due to peer pressure(Thayer,2018).
The next theme is the women empowerment problem.it says that this trouble is being faced as a result of feminism in society. Most women are trying to achieve gender equality in various countries because they feel men have been misusing them or they have more than enough compared to women which are not goon according to them. According to women, patriarchy and capitalism have been used by men to deny them their equality rights. But according to Taffy Broadeser Akner, women have been learning different ways on how to make themselves more beautiful. And due to the high demand, many magazines have been created to show how they can lose their weight, maintain their beautiful shapes as well as staying healthy. But according to Tolentino, that is a self-care as women call it. The ideology of that passage is that women require their empowerment but they are taking longer to concentrate on their beauty. And they also have a negative attitude towards patriarchy. Due to that, they are using beauty and feminism to try to have equality and also get their empowerment. Women are said to have rebranded the old requirements instead of throwing them away which may make them fail since they used to use the new strategy and current one. The writer tries to show who women have been feeling about the former and current situation brought by patriarchy and capitalism. Due to that various magazines and organizations have taken the advantage of advertising various ways women can use to make themselves more beautiful. But to men, it sounds like a wastage on money and resources due to the high value of physical beauty instead of something else (Professional beauty,2012).
