Develop and publish a presentation on a technology or technology company. The presentation should contain 25 slides, pictures, and other multimedia as needed.
Presentation Assignment Overview
There will be one presentation assignment. You will have the opportunity to sign up for one IT company or one IT technology that will serve as the focus of the presentation project from the lists provided.
Purpose
Business presentations often take on distinctive characteristics depending on their overall purpose and the audience for which they are intended. Business presentations may at times serve the purpose of not only persuading the audience to accept a certain perspective, but also motivating the audience toward a specific action. Referencing specific figures and providing significant data can also help your audience to better understand your subject.
The purpose of a Presentation Assignment is to prepare you to not only design and develop effective business presentations, but also conduct the presentations that can capture attention and ignite the emotions of the audience. Also, you should be able to apply the presentation rubric to evaluate your peer’s presentations and provide constructive feedback to help your peers improve their presentation skills.
Instructions:
Choose an IT company or technology to research and provide a 7-minute presentation. The questions below should be considered a guide. You may use them or create your own questions you find relevant to your topic. You will be graded on content knowledge, slide design and organization, transition, and works cited.
If you choose an IT company, answer the following questions in your presentation:
Describe what the company did to gain recognition? (big picture)
How did the company start?
What product/services put the company in the top 500?
Who is credited for the companys success?
What is their contribution to the tech world?
Describe the companys strategic plan.
Discuss the long-range impact of the company.
If you choose a technology, answer the following questions:
Why is this technology/book/organization important?
Who and when was the technology developed? (big picture)
How does it work?
How do you think it will impact the future?
6×6 Rule
The Slides should be created in Normal view so that you can see both the slide and the Notes section. Each slide should have clear, simple graphics (if used) with few words. Consider using the 6 x 6 rule no more than 6 lines per slide with no more than six words (to include bullets and sub-bullets). You will not be expected to write complete sentences on each slide. Save that for the Notes section. Slides are only outlines – speaking points. They should very rarely be complete thoughts.Slides can be created using default settings; however, you should not go below 24-point font. Do not create slides for the audience to read. The goal will be to create a dynamic presentation that informs your audience.
Script for Narration
For the notes part of each slide you will write what you would actually say to your audience. This portion will become your script and should take on a conversational tone. It is recommended that you avoid long and complex sentences. You are expected to use in-text citations, but you will not state them. If you are using a specific source to lend credibility to your presentation, you simply need to state the name but not the date, page number, etc. Since this presentation has a 7-minute time limit, it is recommended that you read it out loud and time it. You are cautioned not to read too quickly. The notes pages should read naturally and at pace that holds the attention of your audience.
Submit and Share Final Product
Many software applications that allow you to design and create a presentation are widely available, such as Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Open Office Impress, and Apple Keynote. You are required to record the audio narration into the presentation. A completed presentation will be self-contained; it will start with the tap of the spacebar or Play button, slides will automatically advance in sync with their recorded voice and the slides will end in 7 minutes. Each presentation should contain at least 25 slides. Appropriate graphics, clip arts, transitions, and animations are also recommended. List of Technologies
