Changing positively
upload your short write-up describing your first of two Stages of Change Projects. You should write about 400 words describing what you did for this project, why you selected the project, what the effect would be if everyone in your local area did what you did, why you think people are not doing the activity, and how you would convince more people to do what you did.
Describe the overall environmental problem that you are addressing with your project (e.g., lack of fresh water, energy use, air pollution, etc.). State whether this problem is significant in your local area and why, and give a reference for this assessment. You can include a photo if it is helpful (e.g., if you are picking up litter in a public area, you can show the before and after photos Describe what you did for your project, and be as specific as possible. For example, if you decide to reduce carbon emissions by walking/biking instead of driving, describe the estimated distance travelled and the means of traveling before and after the project. You can also include a photo here if it is appropriate to the project. (3 points) What would the effect on the environmental problem identified in #1 above be if everyone in your local area (city, county, etc.) did what you just did? You can use population levels for your city or county, and multiply the number of people by some metric of improvement related to the project. For example, information is readily available on carbon emissions saved by switching one light bulb; you can multiply the number for one bulb by the number of people to estimate the overall improvement for your area if everyone switched one light bulb (3 points). Discuss why you think the environmental improvement in your project is not more widely implemented and what you would do to convince more people to make the change that you did in your Stages of Change project (3 points). Include a list of references (3 points).
