Each of your responses to your classmates should be at least 100 words in length. Evaluate the two sources each classmate identified and indicate whether you think that the sources would be appropriate for use in an academic assignment. Explain your rationale in a way that would help your classmate evaluate his or her own decision-making process about the use of institutional, organizational, and governmental sources.

Topic Social cognition
Amodio, D. M. (2019). Social Cognition 2.0: An interactive memory systems account.Trends in Cognitive Sciences,23(1), 21-33.The article aimed to try and explain the concept of social cognition using another theory apart from the classic dual-process models that have been used to explain the primary effects of social cognition. It is a fact that there are various ways of memory retention and learning that people use to gain and store information. In the article, it is acknowledged that have been interacting forms of learning that have been acknowledged by cognitive neuroscience. People have depended on dual-process theory to explain learning (Amodio, 2019). However, the model in this article proposes a new theory. The article has various models that have been used in psychology to explain the concept of learning and memory. The article will help me explaining the more complex concept of memory system perspective. Neurally plausible model in the article can help explain precisely some of the human behavior that other models cannot.
Vincini, S., Jhang, Y., Buder, E. H., & Gallagher, S. (2017). Neonatal imitation: Theory, experimental design, and significance for the field of social cognition.Frontiers in Psychology,8, 1323.The article provides information about developmental psychology, neuroscience, and social recognition. It also explains in detail about a neonatal imitation elaborating on its implication for neuroscience, social cognition, and developmental psychology. The goal was to make it known the theoretical issues surrounding the topic of the empirical research question. Information in the article will come in handy in my research question when I need to relate theories of social interaction and direct social perception. I also picked the article because it contains researched information about other relevant theories to my research topic, like the association similarity theory and arousal hypothesis. Towards the end, Vincini et al. include the importance of the concept of neonatal imitation. They relate its importance to social cognition by linking it to direct social perception and social interaction.
Keech, B., Crowe, S., & Hocking, D. R. (2018). Intranasal oxytocin, social cognition, and neurodevelopmental disorders: a meta-analysis.Psychoneuroendocrinology,87, 9-19.The article covers the effects of lacking social cognition and the disorder associated with it. Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) are a condition that is developed by someone who lacks the social cognition skills that are used in learning and human behavior (Keech et al., 2018). The article will help me explain the importance of social cognition in human behavior. People sometimes fail to understand the importance it has in their lives, and this article will help me prove to them the essence.
Fernandez-Sotos, P., Torio, I., Fernandez-Caballero, A., Navarro, E., Gonzalez, P., Dompablo, M., & Rodriguez-Jimenez, R. (2019). Social cognition remediation interventions: A systematic mapping review.PloS one,14(6), e0218720.This is a research paper that was aimed at investigating cognition remediation interventions. It acknowledges the disorders that have been recognized due to the lack of social recognition in human behavior and learning (Fernandez-Sotos et al., 2019). I mainly picked the article to aid me in my research because it will help me explain the relationship that exists between social cognition, functionality, and quality of life while trying to educate on the disorders related to the subject of social cognition.

To continue with mental health in children and how with the COVID 19 Pandemic studies and surveys are seeing an increase in cases. Below are three articles that are going to be used to further the discussion of these issues.
Fuller, K. (2019, October 09). Mental Health Conditions Seen in Childhood. Retrieved September 10, 2020, from https://www.nami.org/Blogs/NAMI-Blog/October-2019/Mental-Health-Conditions-Seen-in-Childhood
In this article, Doctor Fuller goes in-depth in recognizing the signs of issues associated with mental health in kids. She breaks many of the diagnoses down and gives her take on the symptoms that would be recognizable in ADHD, PICA, and Bipolar Disorders. In the end, she recommends that if parents or teachers see a sign of one of these diagnoses that their pediatrician or a child psychologist does the treatment treats them.

I enjoyed this article more than a few of the past items covered. It covers how two girls are diagnosed with a mental illness and issues they were having before and during school. It also brings out the challenges that each of the girls were facing without help from the school. The article goes even further, saying that if a child is diagnosed that in many cases, there are no services locally, they can access through there pediatrician or the school system. In many of the issues, there is no diagnosis, or they go unidentified. The school they attended did make some accommodations for the girls, but they both still struggled. It was their mom who found out what would work best for them. One went to a smaller school while the other went on to do virtual school.

This article goes into several studies and surveys taken around the start of the Pandemic and then again in June. Both of these studies and surveys focused on the families’ overall mental health, and both were published in the Journal of Pediatrics. The first study focused on the hardships that the families were facing and how it affected the family member’s mental well being. The second study checks how the family is coping after a few months of going through the Pandemic at home with no school. The one big difference between the two is the age groups surveyed. In the first study, the age is from two to seven; the second is eighteen and below. It covers how to identify mental health issues and things that can help de-escalate those issues and ensure that both parents and children take care of themselves.
