Although in the past Congress was responsible for picking the U.S. Supreme Court docket, the Supreme Court justices have great autonomy to pick the cases they want to hear. Annually, almost 99% of all cases appealed to the Supreme Court are denied. What kinds of factors do you think go into which cases are heard? Cases are denied without an explanationdo you think that it is a good idea for the Supreme Court to set its own docket with no accountability for how or why they hear a case? How would responding to every case change the work of the Supreme Court? Explain.
Build on a classmate’s post by asking questions, offering thoughtful ideas, or sharing personal connections. Be sure to demonstrate respect for classmates’ comments.

hi professor and class
I know I sound like a pessimist right know I swear I am not the way the country is going right now has got me really opinionatedmore than normal.I don think it is a good idea for the supreme court to just pick their cases. There is no credibilty, accountability, or criteria in how they pick their cases so how are they picking them cases that sound interesting or cases that fit their agenda. The answer to that question we really don’t know and they usually don’t say why if you ask me that is just a security blanket to protect them. Of course thay can’t accept every case or even monitor every case they wouldn’t hear half the cases they need to. so how to fix that here is one way have a section in the us attorney generals office that does nothing but use a criteria to evaluate cases then make a docket for them to me that could be more fair.

GGood morning Professor,
One of the correlations between gangs, drugs, and violence is that violence is a part of everyday life in their neighborhoods.Gangs in this instance usually fight over territory or turf where they distribute and sell drugs. This can conflict with other gangs who try to move in and start selling drugs and then cause a fight or war to begin in order to take over the other turf.
Two. Violence is an epidemic part of their status as individuals and gang members. In some gangs, in order for a person to be initiated into a gang, they would be asked to perform so form of a violent act. Also, according to the article gang cohesion grows in proportion to a perceived threat by rival gangs. When this happens as we all can relate gang violence breaks out and then there is an escalation in gun violence and homicides that occur when rival gangs are at odds with each other. We see it on the news every day about young people who have been gunned down including innocentbystanders.
One of the interventions that communities could do is to first assess the gangs and drug problems.By getting data from the police and juvenile court systems. Gang and Drug policy training would help to bring community leaders to assess the extent of the gang drug problem. Programs that are needed to help break the cycle of gang members moving from detention centers to correctional facilities. Screening of these juveniles gang members needs to be done to determine their risk to society. And provide these young people with resources that could help them become independent of gangs. They need to learn job skills that could help them get employment.
Two preventing juveniles from joining gangs and dropping out of school should be the top priority by discouraging kids from joining gangs and the quick money they could earn by selling drugs and warn them of the dangers and consequences that could follow. Kids need positive programs to keep them off the street and employment that could bring them financial security which is one thing they are seeking. Parents need to be more involved in what their children are doing and their activities.

In Chapter 8 of the Webtext, you learned four simple ways you can use self-monitoring behavior in the workplace. Review the table on page 8.3. Then, explain how you already use one of these behaviors at work or school.
Check out the table below to review four simple ways you can ensure youre self-monitoring in any professional situation.
Self-Monitoring in the Workplace
1. Pay attention to the way others are behaving and act accordingly. This might mean doing research before an important meeting or simply assessing behaviors as they arise.
2. Read both verbal and nonverbal cues to assess the situation. For example, if youre monopolizing time in a meeting with unnecessary questions, your coworkers might look impatient or uncomfortable.
3. Find a balance between blending in and being your authentic self.
4. Practice self-awareness so you understand how your own feelings and desires are influencing your behavior.
Next, identify one of the behaviors that you might need to work on for your future career.
Then, respond to one or more of your peers by suggesting a way they can work on one of the behaviors theyd like to improve. Be sure to back up your response with concepts youve learned in this course.

Good morning Professor,
The one behavior that I practice is confidence in taking care of my sister I know that since she is completely blind in one eye and has limited vision in her othereye I must make sure that her needs are met on a daily basis.Along with her glaucoma, she also suffers from seizures and lupus.Since she depends on me for her needs I must make sure her medicine is dispensed on a regular basis and make sure she lacks nothing when it comes to her medicine. Along with taking care of her, I must make time to complete my schoolwork assignments.
I practice self-monitoring with my thoughts because it times things can get very stressful and although I may want to through in the towel I know that I can’t. So I try not to allow myself to get so stressed out. I remind myself to keep my head up and work as though I am working unto GOD. By doing this there is joy and peace in my life and I have a positive outlook for the future especially when I know I am about to cross the finish line to get my bachelor’s degree.
