Lets first state that students in U.S. public schools have the Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable searches. This right is diminished in the school environment, however, because of the unique need to maintain a safe atmosphere where learning and teaching can occur. Schools must strike a balance between the student’s right to privacy and the need to maintain school safety. there are 3 legal searches that the US courts consider legal.Probable cause:This is the highest standard required for a search and requires the police to have sufficient evidence that you committed a crime and that there is a substantial chance that they will find evidence of that crime by searching you or your belongings.Reasonable suspicion:This is the usual standard used for any kind of search conducted against students at school andSuspicionless or random searches:In a few situations, neither reasonable suspicion nor probable cause is required for a search. I would think that an unreasonable search can be cell phones unless students are breaking the law or infringing on anothers right to education, students should be allowed to retain all personal items. There are other factors that could somehow coincide with this, say a student posts on social media saying that they’re going to shoot up the school or post intimidating pictures of them holding weapons and a different student reports it this would be a situation whereall of the reasons for search would be applied.

ASSIGNMENT 1

Juvenile Justice System vs. Adult Justice System

The Juvenile Justice System and the Adult Justice System both have similarities and differences in the overall handling of offenders. In your learning activity(link: https://kapextmediassl-a.akamaihd.net/pubSafe/Media/CJ150/CJ150_1802B/LA3/story_html5.html), you identified those processes that are the same for both juveniles and adults or those processes that are different for both juveniles and adults. In this written assignment, you will:
1. Select four (4) of the processes identified in the Learning Activity and clearly compare and contrast their treatments in the juvenile and adult courts. (At least one full paragraph per comparison).
2. Do you feel there are enough significant differences between the two systems to justify having a separate juvenile system? Justify your rationale.

Submitting Your Assignment

Compose your Assignment in Microsoft Word and save it in the following format: Last name First name Assignment. (Example: SmithJohn_Unit6_Assignment2). Submit your Assignment to the Unit 6 Assignment 2 Dropbox by the end of Unit 6.

Discussion 2
This week is the second opportunity during this course to complete a self-reflection that will connect with the Assignment you are creating during this unit. Discussion requirements are slightly different for this unit. An initial response and two responses to a peer are required during this unit. This is primarily a peer to peer discussion, so while your instructor will be observing this discussion, they will not be an active participant. Additionally, there is no minimum word requirement, but addressing the topic completely and descriptively will be important to earning credit.
The image you portray as a professional is often reflected in the communications that you relay. Communication in the workplace happens in many forms. In previous units, you had the opportunity the delve into non-verbal communication and even focus on your own oral presentation skills. Now you will focus on how others present information and critically analyze this presentation.
You will locate a presentation online that focuses on your field (for example you might choose a TED talk focused on your field) and analyze this presentation. For the analysis, at least two effective presentation skills the presenter has used and two areas that could be improved should be noted. Explain why you chose these areas.
You will want to ensure you focus on evaluating communication skills for the presentation such as oral presentation skills and nonverbal communication skills. Be sure to share the link to the presentation for everyone to be able view it.

Hello class,
I chose to view a TED Talk entitled, “Lessons From Nursing to the World”. It was presented by Kathleen Bartholomew and was a discussion of the tendency of nurses to treat recent graduates as second class citizens. I could tell this was a topic that was very important to her. She presented the material well and was very interesting to listen to. There were several times that she hesitated and it was obvious that she made up the dialogue on the spot. I don’t know if she lost her place, or forgot what she was saying, or what. She recovered fairly well, though. Her talk was well organized and the information flowed nicely. Two effective skills she used were having the talk flow in a logical way and only talking when she had something important to say. A possible area of improvement would be to add visuals to the presentation (Bourne, 2007).

Hello, Everyone,
I found a Tedtalk video on Cybersecurity presented by Nick Espinosa. He discusses 5 laws of cybersecurity, of which he displayed a great wealth of knowledge. He was very comfortable with this presentation and kept very good eye-contact with the group he was presenting to. His use of hands while talking wasnt overly done and he used them well to express himself when needed. The one things that I would personally gig him on would be the untucked button down shirt worn under a jacket. I know some might see this as being stylish but to me, it is a little unprofessional. Otherwise, it was a great presentation.
Thank you,
Troy
