1. I am going to sound like a complete and utter old man for saying this but, I really do not like concerts that much. The last concert I attended was a heavy metal band called A Day to Remember. The concert was held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. With this genre of music, it is commonplace at the concert for the attendees to have a mosh pit; a group of heavily perspiring individuals that tackle and crash into one another, often resulting in minor injuries. After that particular concert, I had trouble hearing, and ringing in the ears for about 3 days after. Needless to say, this is not my cup of tea. Having been in the military; and now, having a career in law enforcement, I do not like large crowds, or prolonged exposure to loud noises, like a concert. (Szibor, A., Hyvrinen, P., Lehtimki, J., Pirvola, U., Ylikoski, M., Mkitie, A., Aarnisalo, A., & Ylikoski, J. 2018) wrote Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is an increasingly prevalent disorder. pg. 22
I simplydo not like music that is so loud that I cant hear myself talk to the person next to me. Smaller venues are a little better, but not much. Extremely loud music will give me a headache; however, I can easily handle loud music in my own car. Being in a smaller venue; like a bar, is easier for me to handle, but only if there are not too many people. Maybe I have just become old and grumpy in my 30s, but I am perfectly content with listing to my favorite podcast in my car.

Sadly, I have never been to a music concert; however, I have been to church with a concert like a band. The stage has lights, loudspeakers, and fantastic singers. I can see there is not much difference between the two. People enjoy going to a concert to listen to music and enjoy the uplifting environment. When I hear the music and the way they sing, it puts me in a happy place. Shin and Kim (2011) stated, music therapy group showed a statistically significant decrease in anxiety compared to the control group, but no significant difference was identified in stress (p. 19). So, listening to music decreases anxiety; this I why I listen to classical music while doing schoolwork.
When I listen to music, I tend to listen to whatever I feel or want to feel. If I am anxious and want to relax my nerves, I listen to classical or country music. When I am working out in the gym and want to get my heart pumping, I will listen to hard rock or rap music. Music has a big impact on my day to day life. It helps build memories; like when I had a bonfire with a bunch of my friends and Darius Rucker Wagon Wheel came on, we all were singing out loud as a group. My next goal is to attend a concert!
